Owen meets the Reid's

Owen's first night home was ok. I noticed he is incredibly sleepy during the day but at night he likes to wake up every 1 hour to 2 hours. He is super cute and I adore him. I woke up to every lil sound he made.   We had a busy Saturday planned and Dave was soooo good. He cleaned up the whole house on Friday and Saturday morning and ran errands and grocery shopped. It was great. Dad did such a great job getting his 'nesting on'. LOL. Here's some cute pictures of Dave in the nursery with Owen.

On Saturday, at 12:30 the Reid's came over bearing gifts and food. It was our mother's day since Owen is too young to go to restaurants and out and about. We had Mother's Day indoors! Mom made salad and brought chips'n'salsa. Stacy and Jerry brought dessert and pizza. It was a very nice gesture. We enjoyed their visit and Mason was very cute with his cousin. He gently touched Owen and then Mason had his lunch.  They stayed for 3 hours so it was very considerate of them not to stay too long as Owen was still so new and not really on a schedule yet and had to be fed every 2-3 hours his first week of life.

Going home on Friday May 6th

On Friday, May 6th we had plenty of last minute visitors from the staff. Dave called his dad to come help with our bags and flowers. Dave took the Honda to the Winfield fire department to get the base installed professionally in the morning while I packed up the room. I never got around to it as most of these fire departments had installation hours M-F daytime. I had work and so did Dave so we never got around to it. The hospital coordinator came to discuss my stay, discharge process, cutting of our security bands, support groups available for me, symptoms of post-pardum/blues, and my next steps for taking home Owen. I got my dtap vaccination as well to prevent whooping cough for Owen. :) It's amazing how immediately my left arm was sore from this shot. Here's some pix of Owen and I during skin-to-skin. I love his scrunched up face. haha!

Me and my baby!

For the 2 nights we were at Edward Hospital I took advantage of the nursery and staff.  My girlfriends told me you are getting billed anyway for the nursery so you might as well use it. Totally true! I got some sleep. Owen was very good the first night. The second night he was very very hungry. I felt bad because my milk hadn't come in yet and my son was hungry. Thankfully he felt comfort in skin-to-skin and the itty bitty amount of colostrum I had.

I figured since it was windy, I'd put him in a sleeper even though we'd be hardly outside. Here's Owen's going-home outfit. I can't believe how big his newborn-sized clothes are. Haha. Owen weighed 6 lbs 7 oz when being discharged so that makes sense that his clothes would be baggy. I made an appointment for Monday for his follow-up pediatrician appointment and I made my 6 week follow up GYN appointment.

I love any clothes with elephants on them

Owen's BellaBaby Photography Shoot (1 day old)

Owen got some really cute pictures taken of him on 5/5/11. It was fabulous. He was such a trooper as he had his photography session at about 1:00 p.m. and that was just a couple hours after his big circumcision.

Here are some cute pix.

I forgot to tell Dave to pick up the laundry basket... but I packed his cute elf hat/diaper cover, his knit bonnet/blanket from his great aunt, and some cute muslin blankets we received from our shower.

These props plus a cooperative baby boy made for some cute pix. Too bad Owen wasn't sleepy enough as we could have gotten some really cute belly/tucked in a ball position pictures. If you google baby pictures.. you'll be shocked at how many cute newborn pictures and ideas are out there! haha!

Here's Owen...

I ordered this cap and diaper cover off of Etsy

I picked ivory, sky blue, and taupe as the colors from the woman who knit it :)

Staying at Edward Hospital

We stayed at Edward Hospital for technically 3 days. It was nice to shower after Owen was born. :) I enjoyed the nurses, courteous staff, and especially the room service. It was nice to order breakfast, lunch, and dinner! :) My experience was really great and if we live in Naperville, when we have more kids, it'll be nice to return here. My recovery consisted of taking 600 mg of Motrin and stool softeners. The nurses also were helpful at teaching me how to use pads, ice pack, plus Tucks pads and a squirt bottle to get me through my bathroom breaks/ bowel movements. The shower and the temperature of the water in the showers rocked. Our water can never be hot enough for me at our townhouse but at the hospital the temperature got really hot. It was nice! :)

Here are some pix of me & Owen from that Wednesday, May 4th!

aww, he's so precious

On May 4th, my mom and dad came to visit us in the morning. Dave's parents and brother also came to visit. I don't have any pix on my computer of that day but it's ok. Here are some pictures from Cinco De Mayo. Dave returned to work on 5/5/11 so he could take off Friday 5/6/11. My mom came to visit me and stay with me that Thursday morning. Owen got circumcized this morning. He also got his photo shoot with Bella Baby. I wish Dave was there so we could have taken some family pictures. oh well.
